Follow your heart but take your brain with you.
I really like this quote because you can easily interpret it in many different ways. The main one obviously about relationships which is a major part in everyones lives whether it be romantic or friendly. However the other way I see it is making big decisions. The first thing that comes to mind for me is pick what kind of career pathway I want to go into. I have been all over the place and I personally find it stupid that we have to start having an idea of what we want to go into by the time we are 16/17.
So hopefully when September comes around and I have to start looking into different schools and programs I will follow my heart and pick what I know I will enjoy but also sit back and try to think about what will be the most logical and hopefully I can meet somewhere in the middle where I can be happy but also feel like my choice was the right one in both my heart and my brain.
Hope you guys have a good week,

“Without music, life would be a mistake.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
Music is something that can change people. And since i am currently blasting music into my ears I think this quote suits my feelings perfectly. I am one of those people who just loves music. If I had the choice I would always have at least one ear bud in or some sort of music playing as background noise. And if i can I love to just sit down and zone out listening to different kinds of music.
I play guitar and I used to play piano and I just love learning how to play different songs from bands and artists I love and look up too. It makes me feel connected to the song in a way that is totally different than just listening to it. Being able to listen to the song and think about what chord is playing or what strumming pattern is being used brings the song to a whole new level.
I have talked to many people about music and some say it just one long track to them. I hear music in layers, I heard each individual instrument and voice separately when I’m paying attention and I feel sorry for people who can’t pick those bits out.
Honestly, if I didn’t have music I don’t know what I would do the majority of my free time. I know most of you are thinking “umm reading” well I listen to music while reading most of them time, for some strange reason it helps me focus and doesn’t let me thoughts wander as much.
Anyways, I hope you all have a band or artist that you can connect too, and don’t be afraid to love those musicians, everyone has a different taste in music and as long as you can connect to it it doesn’t matter if you are listening to heavy metal or a boy band. As long as its your personal collection.
What are some of the bands are artists that you like to listen too?
I personally love 5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low, One Direction, Green Day, Blink 182, Halsey and probably many more that I just can’t think of right now. I used to be a huge Backstreet Boys fan….those were the good days 😛

In honour of one of my favourite Novellas releasing the second instalment yesterday, I decided that I should take a quote from Never Never that I love, and share it with the world! Well, maybe not the literal world, but whom ever decided that this post is worth reading! So this is for you, and for the books that inspire me to write these posts!
“How odd to be made of flesh, balanced on bone, and filled with a soul you’ve never met.
– Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher, Never Never
If you were not aware, Jordan and I are finishing up Grade 11 in a month, and with that comes a decent amount of pressure. We have to start to be able to form the answers to questions about who we are, where we want to go in life, what we want to study in university, and what we want out of life. This quote reminds me that it is fine to not completely understand the answers to all of these questions. I am made of flesh and balanced on bone, and I sure as heck do not understand myself in its entirety. Sometimes I feel that we as people view our own souls and desires as part of something outside ourselves, which is silly because they are what make us us. I could very well not be making any sense right now, but sometimes I think it is important to try and impart what little knowledge I let myself think I have. We should stop forcing ourselves to figure ourselves out, and just let it happen. One time I read an article about how great painters and writers try and completely empty their mind in order to find the inspiration to do what they love to do. We should be trying those same tactics. Empty our minds, let ‘soul-searching’ happen, and don’t try to analyze it. Maybe I am completely wrong about this, but I guess I will figure that out later. Perhaps, there is no ‘right’ way to find yourself, maybe we already know who we are, but nobody knows how to express what makes them, them.
I am going to stop trying my hand at philosophy right now, I don’t have to take that course until next year, and I would prefer not to get ahead on work in a class I am not starting until September.
Anyway, keep designing your own catastrophe…
Quotes, quotes, quotes. O’ how they can be cleverly thought out, or how they can be spur of the moment sayings that impact some person, in some way, so deeply that they feel the need to quote you on it. Anyway, I am here bringing you a tidbit of inspiration to get you all through the week!
I was within and without. Simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.
– F. Scott Fitzgerald
If you don’t know, The Great Gatsby has long since been on my list of ‘all time favourite books’. The intricate wording and immense amounts of detail that surround the opulence of West Egg have enchanted me every time I have opened this book. The characters are so real they seem almost tangible, and the story so vivid it appears to be reality. And I am so glad that my English class is finally getting around to reading this short novel. This will be Jordan’s first time reading this, so we will have to see if she likes it! I chose this quote from the novel because it is one of my favourites, but since I always find myself explaining my own perspective on these quotes, I thought I would just post this one so you all can enjoy it. Have it mean what it means to you, and do not have my understanding of this quote taint your own. Because we all know that would be a horror unparalleled in the realm of favourite books. Let me know what your opinion on The Great Gatsby is. Love? Hate? Somewhere in between?
Keep on designing your own catastrophe…
“You can be just friends with people, you know,” Orla said. “I think it’s crazy how you’re in love with all those raven boys.”
Orla wasn’t wrong, of course. But what she didn’t realize about Blue and her boys was that they were all in love with one another. She was no less obsessed with them than they were with her, or one another, analyzing every conversation and gesture, drawing out every joke into a longer and longer running gag, spending each moment either with one another or thinking about when next they would be with one another. Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn’t all-encompassing, that wasn’t blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she’d had this kind, she didn’t want the other.”
Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
I just finished Blue Lily, Lily Blue last night and I quite enjoyed it. (Review up sometime in the next few weeks on my channel or here) While reading this book I remembered this part vividly. This is how Blue feels about her friendship with the Raven Boys. She views it as something that is unbreakable, that will last forever no matter where anyone goes because they are always thinking about the other and always waiting until the next time they can see each other again. A friendship like this with only one person is hard enough to find, let alone have 4 like Blue does in this story.
I hope you guys all have some friends you can rely on, they make the world a better place.
