Cover Review: The Taking by Kimberly Derting

Hannah and I visit our local Chapters a lot. So much so that a majority of the employees know us and ask us what we are reading every time we go. This one women who we talk to almost every time saw us and then proceeded to grab a book off a shelf and say “Oh my gosh, I just finished this book and it was incredible, you have to read it and tell me what you thought!” So I listened to her explain what the book was about and then bought the book! The book is The Taking by Kimberly Derting and here is the very cool cover:

The Taking by Kimberly Derting

The Taking, from what our Chapters friend told us and from what I have read on the back, is about a girl namedΒ Kyra who one day wakes up behind a dumpster and realizes that 5 years has passed since she has went missing but she hasn’t aged a day. Everything in her life has changed in those 5 years and she seeks the help in her old boyfriends younger brother who is now 17 to find out what happened to her. Especially since her Dad who is now an alcoholic continues to say that Kyra was taken by little green men.

This book has been very well received on Goodreads so far and Lindsay Cummings author of The Murder Complex said in a review;

The cover fits it perfectly—there’s a hint about everything in the cover, one you’ll only understand once you’ve read the book!

I don’t know what that really means but it is only making me study the cover harder trying to figure out what it is leading on. I have a feeling this might have something to do with fae or faeries because of the dragonfly type things that make up the font. There also seems to be a garden in the background which is normally where most faeries take residence. But i could be completely off! I don’t even know if this has any kind of supernatural element or if the dad is just crazy! We will see!

If you have read this book let me know what you thought of it! I really want to try to get to it soon!

Keep on reading…
