“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.”
Have you ever read a book and just never wanted it to end? I have. Many, many times I have closed the books satisfied but still craving more. This quote speaks to me because I have read many books more than once because they are amazing pieces of work. Without books the world would be much less imaginable and quite plain. Literature is the basis of our world.
Of course there is no greater joy than reading a book for the first time. You never know what is going to come next and you get introduced to that world for the first time. But rereading a book, you realize things that you never noticed when you read it the first time. It could be a foreshadow to something that you know is coming, or even just a simple thought from a character that you brushed off as unimportant because you didn’t know all background information.
With Hannah and I going through our Grade 10 exams at the moment we haven’t had as much time as we would like to read. Unfortunately some teachers just don’t understand that reading is more important than a math equation about a parabola. When am I ever going to use that? Anyways, we can’t wait to get back into the swing of reading.
